Do you also love mountain biking at pristine nature trails where no one comes except the few fans on the mountain bike, then you should definitely do this tour. Around the mountain town of Ronda, you will find many small paths, which are often only discovered by hikers. This trek will cross this beautiful and diverse Andalusian landscape.
Highlights - White villages of Andalusia - Pristine nature trails - Ronda You begin the journey in the historic town of Ronda (over 700 m altitude location) where you reside in a city hotel. In the workshop of Cycle Ronda you can pick up your rental mountain bike or, if you have your own bike, store your bike boxes. On the first day in Ronda, a not too technical round is set out so that you can check your skills and the bike on broad paths. The next day you move through Arriate and Los Prados to Setenil. First you descend through a beautiful forest with parasol pines, then you will leave the broad paths for a real mountain bike terrain: small paths winding through olive groves and an old oak forest. This ride is already somewhat more technical. You will stay two days in Setenil in a beautiful hotel on the edge of this unknown ‘cave-village’ with a large garden and swimming pool. The second day in Setenil, you can make a day trip through Alcalá and Olvera through a loop on the north side. This will take you through a unique valley where the river for centuries has worn away the rocks. Then comes the second stage of the Ruta de los Bandoleros towards Ronda la Vieja or Acinipo, an old Roman theater. You will pass old Cortijo’s but also some beautifully situated wine farms and country houses. Climbing on a beautiful trail to Puerto del Sauco you look out over the vast, green park of Grazalema; a spectacular descent follows with views in that park and a beautiful part through cork oak forests and an incredible canyon to your next overnight stop. Montejaque is a beautiful white village where time seems to have stopped. You stay in a beautiful and unique hotel. There is a center with an old church and a village square where at night many villagers are gathering. Here you will stay two nights. At the second day you can make a beautiful ride out to the Llanos Libar, a huge high plateau at 1000 meters. A steep climb takes you through a barren and rugged rocky landscape into an oak forest with lots of shade. The last leg back to Ronda descends first to Benaoján, the neighboring village of Montejaque. You ride along the river and have the possibility of visiting a cave, where the icy mountain water comes down in the form of a waterfall. Then you enter a deserted landscape with only here and there a farm. Slowly Ronda will become visible, with some very dramatic pictures. Once arrived in Ronda you may rest on one of the many terraces near the old Arab wall in the oldest barrio San Francisco before you ride back to your hotel! Program from day to day + km Day 1.
