Right in the middle of a landscape characterised by its abundance of water in the Noord Holland province, the Hampshire Golfhotel Waterland forms a beautiful base of operations for various appealing polder and water routes. You can even consider a bicycle ride to the centre of Amsterdam.

Amsterdam and Alkmaar
Once you have checked into the charmingly situated four-star hotel with a 45-holes golf course right in front of the hotel, you can be on your way to experience one of the seven bicycle routes. De Gouwzee route will take you to the traditional destination of Edam and Monnickendam. From Volendam you can take a boat that will cross the Gouwzee to Marken and you can cycle back to Purmmerend along the coast and the ring canal. Would you like to just get an impression of extremely Dutch ‘highlights’, then the short Edam-Volendam route is extremely suitable. The oldest polders can be found during the Zeevang route with vast landscapes, old villages and dykes. You will pass one of the most famous of reclaimed areas should you take the Beemster route where the legacy of Leeghwater can still be seen today in his place of birth, De Rijp. The bicycle route to Amsterdam is very surprising and special. After an hour or so you will find yourself in the city centre much to your surprise. Or you can simply take a direct bus. Other routes that show more of the polder landscape are the Zaanse Schans route and Waterland route.
