A round trip of about 300 km on quiet, good riding roads, with the shores of the lake never very far from your side; this is the famous tour around Lake Constance. The route is flat in Germany and Austria; while Switzerland is a bit hillier, it is still not too difficult to do.

The sub-alpine climate, the old villages and the ever-present expanse of water provide a special atmosphere to this region, one of the oldest tourist regions in Europe. Every town cherishes its own treasures, such as Bregenz, Konstanz, Friedrichshafen and Lindau. But the swamp areas near Radolfzell, the flower island of Mainau and the pile dwellings of Uhlingen are also certainly worth seeing.
Your round trip starts from Bregenz or a village nearby. You ride through the Rhine delta via Ermatingen and the picturesque Stein am Rhein to the German enclave of Busingen. On the fourth day, after riding over some stretches of unsealed road, you reach Schaffhausen. Besides the waterfall, the proud fort of Munot and the Benedictine church should not be missed. The way back to Stein am Rhein or Gottmadingen is done by train. Then you go through a few nature reserves to get to the monastery island of Reichenau. After viewing this green cyclists’ paradise you cycle the last part to the hotel in Konstanz/Wollmatingen. The next day you have ample time to visit the medieval town of Konstanz and the flower island of Mainau. You take the ferry to Überlingen. The final destination of this day is Friedrichshafen where you can visit the Zeppelin museum. On the last day you ride to the romantic Wasserburg with its narrow lanes, and past the picturesque Lindau. Usually you end up in Bregenz at the same hotel you started from, but it can be a different hotel in the vicinity.
