You take in the famous cheese town of Alkmaar on your ride through the waterlands to the Zaanse Schans. With its windmills and typical green wooden houses, the Zaanse Schans gives a wonderful impression of life in the Zaan area during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. You arrive in Haarlem by boat. You will explore the dunes and the sea, with the option of enjoying the seaside a little longer if the weather is nice. Once you get to Leiden you will have enough time to see the town or visit a museum. The next day you take public transport to visit The Hague, the seat of government of the Netherlands. There you will have ample time to visit the Mauritshuis with its famous painting The girl with the pearl earring by Vermeer, or admire the Panorama Mesdag with the largest panoramic painting in the world. From Leiden you sail for a while on the boat, leaving it to cycle further along the Amstel river. Amsterdam beckons you to explore its wonders, with a whole day at your disposal.
