Pearls of the Danube By taking bicycle rides along the shore you’ll get a close-up view of the enchanting Danube. This bike-and-boat-tour takes you through four of Europe’s most enchanting countries — Austria, Germany, Hungary and Slovakia. The impressive spectacle of nature of the Schlögener Donauschlinge (= ”Great Loop”), the spectacular landscape of the Wachau with its vineyards, majestic castles and palaces, the untouched alluvial forests of the Danube National Park as well as the picturesque Hungarian Danube bend are alternating with thriving metropolises. Explore Budapest’s imperial and Art Nouveau delights, take a comprehensive tour of beautiful Bratislava’s baroque and Gothic buildings and fountains and discover why Vienna is “the waltz capital”. After a great day of cycling, relax on board listening live music or discover the port city.

Sunday: Passau – Engelhartszell Boarding time is at 5 p.m. Located at the junction of three rivers, the Danube, Inn and Ilz, Passau has a number of interesting sites. Use your free time and stroll through the historic centre, listen to the bells of Passau’s Gothic Town Hall, visit the world largest Catholic Church organ in the cathedral.
Monday: Great Loop | approx. 41 km The cycle begins through the classic scenery of the “Great Loop” Donauschlinge - one of the most beautiful and original sectors of the Danube. On your way you will encounter tiny villages and cosy cider taverns. In Austria’s only Trappist monastery in Engelhartszell you can taste their delicious liquors and cheese. The famous “Schlogener View” provides a wonderful view of the surrounding Austrian countryside. The boat expects all cyclist back on board in the charming market of Aschach.
Tuesday: Devin – Bratislava | approx. 18-49 km You pedal along the former “Iron Curtain”, cross the green line and reach the imposing Imperial Palace of Hof with its beautifully terraced gardens and idyllic manor farm. Follow the bike path through Austria’s “vegetable garden” to the coronation city of Bratislava at the slopes of the Little Carpathians and discover the hidden alleyways and sights of Bratislava on an optional city tour.
Wednesday: Budapest | Szentendre, approx. 40 km The entrance to Budapest, Hungary's capital, is stunning. Savour the beauty of Buda and Pest, which lie on opposite sides of the Danube, with a coach tour or a guided bike tour (optional) that reveals all the highlights of this handsome city. You can also choose to cycle on a round trip to the charming town of Szentendre with its Mediterranean atmosphere and lively art scene. A very close experience of Hungarian culture you will get at an evening show with traditional music and dances (optional).
Thursday: Danube Bend | Visegrad – Esztergom, approx. 24 - 57 km Today the cycle begins in Visegrad with its famous fortress and the ruins of the former palace. You can choose from two routes, the longer including a side trip to the island of Szentendre and the baroque village of Vác which has been influenced by the architects of Austria’s empress Maria Theresia. The alternative route takes you directly to the bishop town of Esztergom with its gorgeous basilica – Hungary’s largest Catholic Church – overlooking the village.
Friday: Vienna – day of rest Discover Vienna's most beautiful attractions. During a city tour by bike or bus (optional) you will experience up close the most famous examples of architecture; the imperial Hofburg, St. Stephens Cathedral, the gorgeous boulevard "Ring Straβe" with the State Opera House, the Burgtheater and town hall, as well as the colorful "Hunderwasserhaus". Relaxation is on offer in the famous Viennese coffee bars, the evening ends impressively at a concert (optional) in a traditional wine taverne.
Saturday: Wachau | Rossatz – Melk, approx. 29 - 42 km Your last biking day is a special highlight! A powerful ruin looms above the small Baroque town of Durnstein, while the blue tower of the monastery church is a landmark of the renowned Wachau. Amidst dreamy towns, apricot trees, vineyards and castles, this hilly landscape enchants everybody. You'll be biking on cloud nine! In Weißenkirchen (possibility for a wine-tasting – optional) you will find comfy wine taverns right along the bike path. After the Captain’s farewell dinner, lots of fun and entertainment can be experienced during a crew show.
Sunday: Passau Enjoy on deck the first sunbeams and the peaceful silence of the Danube Valley. Take a last sight at the Schlögener Schlinge ("Great Loop") before you arrive relaxed at Passau. Arrival: approx 11 p.m., disembarkation half an hour later. We recommend to arrange connecting trips from 12 p.m. onwards.

All mileages are approximate distances of recommended routes. Please be aware that the cabin storage space is very limited. In case of flood or low tide, the shipping company reserves the right to bridge parts of passages by
buses. In extreme situations, the shipping company reserves the right to cancel the journey on short notice. No legal right shall be constituted of both situations. (Water level is force majeure). The same applies for officially ordered - previously not announced - repair work on locks or bridges or in case breakdown of engine or power unit through no fault of shipping company or tour operator.
Please be aware that a cruise ship on the Danube is not only your hotel but also a machine, working with engine power also during the night. Especially passing locks and bridges - and the preparation work - may cause noise.
