There is a good bicycle available for all participants from ages eight and up with 24 gears and handbrakes. All bikes are comfortable touring bikes made by Gazelle, Holland's leading bicycle brand, or bicycles of comparable quality. Characteristic yellow pannier bags are a part of standard equipment on each bicycle. We've been using the red-and-yellow Gazelle Medeo across the world for many years now and experience shows just how reliable these bicycles are. Suffice to say our bikes will get you anywhere.
Young children
Your children are more than welcome on our Bike&Boat Holidays!
On request, we provide child seats and, for children between 4 and 8 (who like to cycle but might get tired before arrival on board), tag-along 'slipstreamers' are available. This one-wheeled bicycle is attached to the bicycle of the adult. The child pedals whereas the adult helps a little by 'pulling' the bicycle forward. A tandem bike can also be provided if requested far enough in advance.
Bicycle helmet
Although wearing a bicycle helmet is not required in the Netherlands, we highly recommend doing so. Children are required to wear the helmets that are provided with the children's bicycles. Helmets for adults are not included with the trip package.
Bicycle insurance
The bicycles, with a good lock, are made available to you, but you are liable for damage or theft as long as the bicycle is not on board or inside a shelter.
