Budapest

An extremely varied bicycle trip through the Danube valley from Vienna via Bratislava to Budapest, in which the unspoiled scenery and not very well known art treasures form the theme of this Hungarian Rhapsody. The seemingly endless landscape is punctuated by small farming villages. You ride mainly flat and gently rolling country roads, guided by the impressive river that works its way through mighty hills and mountains.

This cycling tour from Vienna to Budapest is a very diverse adventure with extensive majestical highlights. Your tour starts in Vienna, the worlds “City of Music and Charm”. The Slovakian capital Bratislava invites you for shopping and sightseeing tours in the picturesque old-town. Hungary’s metropolis and capital city of Budapest is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and it is the crowning conclusion to your extraordinary journey. This tour offers a natural and cultural expedition that is mostly set away from touristic centres and is “off the beaten path”. Untouched nature, unknown artistic treasures and cultural monuments can be found along the route between Vienna and Budapest. Cycle along the seemingly infinite and vast widths of the Hungarian lowlands and you can also visit the famous Arabian National Stud in Babolna where you explore the secrets and techniques of traditional horse breeding. The basilica in Esztergom is the largest Catholic cathedral in Hungary and it is home to many artistic treasures and historical jewels. Enjoy the friendly people and the welcoming Hungarian hospitality.

Questions & Réponses

  • What biking level is the Vienna to Budapest tour?

The tour is mostly flat and sometimes slightly hilly. The Austrian section follows well-maintained and equipped cycle paths, in Hungary you will sometimes cycle on country back and side roads. Upon entering and leaving cities there is traffic that must be closely observed.

  • Does a support vehicle accompany us?

Our experience has taught us that virtually every cyclist is able to make it to the next hotel without difficulties, since you will be setting your own pace and have the whole day for the journey. Should circumstances render you unable to cycle further, then our agent will obligingly find you the best manner of public transportation and/or taxi. The costs, in such a case, must be self-incurred.

  • How is the luggage transported and when does it arrive?

The luggage is transported by van and must stand ready for delivery by approx. 9 a.m. and will be at the next hotel by approx. 4 p.m.

  • What can I expect of the hotels along the way?

For our trips, we generally utilize good 2-3 star hotels with a bathroom in each room. The accommodations vary a great deal, ranging from a simple Bed & Breakfast to a very luxurious hotel and from a family hotel to a former cognac estate.

  • When are the rental bicycles delivered?

The rental bicycles are as a rule delivered on the evening of the day of arrival and must be returned upon arrival at the last hotel.
